The Top Five Things I’ve Learned in My First 30 Days as CEO of TAP Network

Thirty days in, what has struck me most is how openly this community connects, shares, and gives feedback.

I’ve already had the honour of spending one-on-one time with more than a dozen members, and counting. They have been generous enough to share their ideas, along with candid feedback on what is working and where we can improve.

Here is what I have learned and observed so far.

Tech People and Culture leaders have already been doing the hard training for change

Decades of building fast, pivoting faster, and doing more with less have quietly given this community a change muscle that many other sectors are only just starting to develop.

That is not a small thing. It continues to be our superpower as every organization now tries to navigate the tsunami of change ahead.

Culture debt is real, and it deserves a name

All that growth and reinvention leaves residue behind if nobody goes back to tend to it.

The leaders I have spoken with are refreshingly honest about where that debt has quietly built up in their own organizations.

Data has never been more available, and somehow that has made decisions harder, not easier

Everyone I have spoken with is looking for a way to cut through the noise and get something simple enough to actually act on.

That includes our own flagship compensation survey offering. My team and I are already ideating on a dynamic new compensation intelligence tool, a 2.0 version of what we currently offer, and I look forward to sharing more in the coming months.

The peer community sweet spot is narrower and more valuable than I expected

What people actually want is not more networking. It is an authentic, values-driven space where they can bring a real Tuesday afternoon problem and leave with something practical to try.

Something tangible and robust enough to act on.

That is the gap TAP is built to fill.

The incredible support within this community is what has inspired me most

People and Culture leaders here are willing to show their work, admit what they do not know yet, and help one another figure things out in real time.

That kind of authentic collaboration is rare, and it is worth protecting as we grow.

Every strong member community has a unique value proposition: the handful of things it does better than anyone else. Thirty days in, I can already see ours taking shape.

Data and insights, practical solutions, peer connection, and workforce transformation thought leadership are showing up again and again as what our members need most and what they already trust us for.

My job now is simple. Well, perhaps not that simple!

It is to keep strengthening those pillars across everything we build, so this community becomes even more indispensable than it already is.

And given how much ground we covered in thirty days, ask me again at ninety and I may have enough material for a novel.

But don’t worry. I’ll do my best to aim for a short story instead.

Warmly,

Sachi Kittur
