Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging Resources for the Tech Sector

TAP Network is proud to provide Canada’s tech sector with diversity benchmarking data, a free online library of resources and tools, EDIB thought leadership and comprehensive leadership training to help build a more inclusive tech sector.

Resources Available

TAP Network’s EDIB Resource Hub is a free online resource library for the tech sector.

With over 400 best-in-class Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging resources and tools, the EDIB Resource Hub provides employers with tools and information that can be used to integrate EDIB practices, build a culture of inclusiveness and belonging and support women, Indigenous peoples, people of colour, people with disabilities, newcomers to Canada, individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+, and all equity-deserving groups to succeed in the tech sector.

TAP Network often partners with various facilitators to run intensive Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) leadership training programs. These programs are designed specifically for tech industry leaders.

Customized training programs can be offered; please contact us at info@tapnetwork.ca for more information.

Here are examples of training programs we have provided:

Back to Black: The Building Blocks of Black Inclusion
Inclusive Organizations – Executive Training
Inclusive Leadership Program
Inclusive Change Agent Program
Our Diversity Benchmarking Toolkit helps organizations measure their workforce diversity and track progress on increasing the representation of equity-deserving groups over time.
Our Diversity in Tech Dashboard provides a benchmark for Canada’s tech sector to track its progress on increasing the representation and inclusion of equity-deserving groups within the sector over time. Data on the diversity of the current Canadian technology employee population is collected by TAP Network members through a confidential employee self-reporting process. This data is then reported to Mercer on a confidential basis through the TAP Network’s Annual Salary Survey.

TAP Network’s Commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Reconciliation

We respectfully acknowledge that TAP Network is on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and that all of our members live, work and play on Turtle Island. We hear and understand that Indigenous People, who have lived on these lands since time immemorial, have experienced and continue to experience trauma related to ongoing colonialism.

We must all do what we can to decolonize by examining and enacting ways that our workplace culture, policies and practices can be made safe and equitable for Indigenous People.

TAP Network is committed to delivering diversity data, hosting inclusive events, participating in economic reconciliation and reflecting the diversity of our communities within our teams and committees.

Diversity Equity and Inclusion Tech Project: In 2019, we launched a 3-year pilot project to fill a critical gap in Canada’s tech ecosystem and support employers with the knowledge and tools to develop more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Tech Project engaged more than 600 business leaders, delivered training programs to over 200 tech sector leaders, and saw the completion of six highly successful projects established to support the attraction, retention and advancement of equity-deserving populations in the technology sector. The resources we continue to offer today are a direct result of this project. Read more →.

Past Leadership: In 2017 our association managed a government funded program to examine diversity and inclusion in our sector, to report on status, and to make recommendations for improvements. Download the report here →

Diversifying the Future of our Profession: We’re proud to provide the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Human Resources Management program with bursaries for students who demonstrate financial need and who self-identify with an equity-deserving group such as Indigenous, within the BIPOC community, as a single parent or are registered with BCIT’s Accessibility Services office due to a visible or invisible disability.

Everyone Belongs in Tech

A more diverse and inclusive tech sector provides social, economic and innovation value, and yet, despite best intentions there’s still much work to be done to diversify our sector so that it reflects the beautiful diversity of our communities.
